PUNE: Four men on Tuesday afternoon assaulted a 33-year-old eatery owner in Pimple Nilakh over their opposition to his love marriage with their sister. The incident occurred in the parking lot of the victim’s building around noon. His two brothers, who rushed to his aid, were also assaulted.Sangvi police have registered a case under sections 109 (attempt to murder) and 309 (robbery) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant sections of the Indian Arms Act.An officer from the Sangvi police said the complainant runs an eatery in the Pimple Nilakh area. He had married the sister of the accused, but her family opposed the marriage.On Tuesday afternoon, when the complainant was in the parking lot of his building, the accused approached him and allegedly started abusing him over his marriage to their sister.“Two of them attacked the complainant with a sharp weapon. When he resisted, the third accused threatened him with a pistol,” the officer said.The officer said that when the complainant’s two brothers rushed to his help, the accused assaulted them as well. The complainant also alleged that one of the accused snatched his gold chain before fleeing the spot.The complainant and his two brothers sustained injuries to their hands. “Our investigation is underway,” the officer said.
