Revenue minister Suresh Pujari at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Revenue minister Suresh Pujari, who was admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar, on Tuesday after complaining of chest pain, was shifted to AIIMS New Delhi on Thursday for advanced evaluation and treatment. Pujari had earlier undergone angioplasty at AIIMS New Delhi.According to sources close to the minister, Pujari visited his assembly constituency Brajarajnagar on Sunday to attend meetings and interact with the public. On Monday, he experienced discomfort and mild chest pain. He subsequently underwent a preliminary health check-up at a hospital in Brajarajnagar, where doctors advised him to seek further evaluation at AIIMS Bhubaneswar.The minister later travelled to Sambalpur for official work and then reported to AIIMS Bhubaneswar on Tuesday. During medical assessment, doctors detected issues related to the stents placed in the arteries of his heart. After keeping him under observation for two days, the medical team referred him to AIIMS New Delhi for further management, an aide said.AIIMS Bhubaneswar medical superintendent Dr Dillip Kumar Parida said the minister left for New Delhi around 10 am on Thursday, travelling by flight from Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar. Parida said there was no emergency situation and the transfer was planned. He said since Pujari had previously undergone angioplasty at AIIMS New Delhi, he preferred to have his cardiac condition evaluated there, and the Bhubaneswar team advised him accordingly.Parida also said the minister acted promptly after noticing symptoms suggestive of a heart-related issue and came for a check-up as a precaution. He added that Pujari was stable and normal before leaving for Delhi.
