Panchkula: In a proactive move ahead of the monsoon season, Panchkula police inspected the areas around the Ghaggar, issuing a strong advisory to residents to stay away from the riverbank due to the risk of a sudden rise in water levels.The initiative was carried out under the guidance of DCP Srishti Gupta, with the aim of ensuring public safety and spreading awareness about potential natural disasters during the rains.During the inspection, the police team from Sector-1 outpost interacted with local residents and explained the dangers associated with the monsoon. Officials warned that heavy rain could lead to a sudden surge in water flow in the Ghaggar river, posing flood risks to nearby low-lying areas.Residents were strictly advised not to visit or loiter near the riverbanks unnecessarily, as it could endanger their lives. The police emphasised that even momentary negligence could lead to serious consequences during periods of heavy rainfall.The authorities also urged citizens to closely follow weather alerts, advisories, and safety instructions issued from time to time by the district administration and disaster management authorities. In case of any emergency, residents are advised to immediately contact the police control room or the nearest administrative unit to ensure swift rescue and relief operations.In an earnest appeal to the public, the DCP said, “Natural disasters during monsoons can strike without warning. However, by staying alert and informed, we can significantly reduce their impact. While the police is fully prepared, effective disaster management is only possible with public cooperation.
