Patna: Patna University (PU) is likely to begin counselling and admissions for regular postgraduate courses in arts, science and commerce for the 2026-27 academic session from July 29.The online application process for regular and self-financed PG courses concluded last week. However, admissions could not begin due to the ongoing agitation by university teachers and non-teaching staff.PU students’ welfare dean Kameshwar Pandit said the admission committee is scheduled to meet on Monday to finalise the process. Merit lists for subjects where applications exceed sanctioned seats are expected to be published within the next couple of days.

In subjects with fewer applicants than available seats, admissions will be conducted directly by the concerned departments as per university regulations.Meanwhile, PU has announced entrance test dates for seven regular and self-financed PG programmes. Entrance tests for PMIR, MEd, BLIS and MSc Biotechnology will be held on July 31, while tests for LLB, LLM and MCA are scheduled for August 1. Counselling and admissions for these courses will begin after the entrance test results are declared, Pandit said.PU has also released the third merit list for admission against vacant seats in undergraduate courses across its constituent colleges.
