Chandigarh: PU students on Monday staged a protest over security concerns following the alleged assault on PUDF chairman Harsh Saini at the Geology Canteen a day earlier, briefly shutting gate no. 2.Members of PUDF, along with students from other groups, questioned the alleged entry of outsiders and weapons onto the campus. During the protest, students said they contacted the Chief of University Security but were informed that he was out of station. They also raised concerns over the functioning of CCTV cameras and demanded stricter checks on outsiders and enhanced security deployment.Dean Student Welfare Prof YK Rawal reached the spot and assured students that their concerns would be addressed. Gate no. 2, which was closed around 2pm during the protest, was reopened later in the evening.The protest comes amid heightened activity on campus ahead of the student council elections.
