Several party workers staged a protest outside the school following the controversy over the alleged homework.

HYDERABAD: Police on Thursday detained BJP workers during a protest outside Success, The School in Hyderabad’s Sayeedabad, where a teacher was earlier terminated after allegedly assigning religious homework to a Class 2 student.According to news agency ANI, BJP leader Andela Sriramulu Yadav and several party workers staged a protest outside the school following the controversy over the alleged homework.Addressing reporters before being detained, Yadav questioned the school’s actions and demanded that it be shut down. He also called for the removal of the principal and action against those allegedly responsible.Police also detained BJP leader and advocate Karuna Sagar, who said he had come to question why no FIR had been registered in the matter.“My demand is to arrest the Principal who is forcing the innocent students to read Quran,” Karuna Sagar said.The protest comes hours after the school terminated teacher Shaik Aisha Parveen, who was accused of assigning the alleged religious homework.In its termination letter, the school said she had also been permanently disqualified from seeking future employment within the Success Group of Education Institutions.The controversy began after the parents of a Hindu Class 2 student alleged that their child had been instructed to recite the Kalma and Surah Fatiha as part of schoolwork. The parents later approached the school management and sought strict action.
