Mangaluru: Alleging that incomplete four-lane road work on the Kana–MRPL stretch is causing daily accidents, a protest was held near Kana Junction Tuesday.The protest was led by the DYFI Kana unit, the Autorickshaw Drivers’ Union affiliated with CITU, and the Nagarika Horata Samiti, Kana, demanding the immediate completion of the work.Addressing the gathering, DYFI district president BK Imtiyaz said that though funds were released by the govt after prolonged public struggle, a tussle between the city corporation and public works department had left the project neglected. He said two-wheeler riders were falling victim to accidents, but authorities had failed to act, while elected representatives remained silent spectators. He warned that if the work was not completed soon, they would gherao the city corporation office.DYFI Surathkal zone secretary Srinath Kulal and Autorickshaw Drivers’ Union president Abdul Basheer also addressed the protest.
