Zirakpur: A 55-year-old property dealer was allegedly abducted in Zirakpur on Thursday afternoon. The assailants intercepted his Mercedes, assaulted him and dragged him into an Innova SUV. The accused allegedly took him to a showroom in Bhabat and held him captive before his wife reached the spot and secured his release.Police have arrested one of the accused, identified as Vishu Kumar, a native of Guruharsahai in Ferozepur and currently a resident of Bhabat Road, Zirakpur. He was produced in court and taken on police remand. A case has been registered at Zirakpur police station under relevant provisions of the BNS and Arms Act.The complainant, Ajay Kharbanda, a resident of Sector 12, Panchkula, said he had gone to Royal Estate on Ambala Road in Zirakpur in his Mercedes-Benz around 4:45pm on Sept 11. Later, while he was driving towards a hospital, a motorcycle rider allegedly blocked his car.As soon as Kharbanda stopped, three more vehicles pulled over, police said. The occupants allegedly assaulted him and forced him into an Innova. They then allegedly took a U-turn at Singhpura Chowk and drove him to a showroom in Bhabat village, where he was allegedly confined.Kharbanda managed to call his wife. She reached the showroom with a few others and rescued him, according to the complaint.During the investigation, police arrested Vishu Kumar. They are also probing the alleged role of Ram Singh and six to seven other unidentified persons. Police have recovered an Innova and a black Mahindra Thar allegedly linked to the incident.Further investigation is underway.
