Patna: Unidentified assailants opened fire at a prohibition enforcement team’s vehicle late Tuesday night near Akhtiyarpur bridge in Paliganj subdivision of Patna district. No personnel were injured in the attack.The team was conducting raids in Musahari areas. Several people were arrested from Maharajganj Musahari for allegedly consuming liquor. The team was returning with the detainees when the firing occurred near Akhtiyarpur bridge.Excise officer Baidyanath Yadav of Paliganj subdivision said one shot was fired at the vehicle. “The shot was aimed at the vehicle, but no staff was injured,” he said.Home guard jawan Prince Kumar, who was travelling in the vehicle, said, “We had arrested people for drinking and were taking them to the police station when there was sudden firing on the vehicle. Everyone is safe.”On receiving information, the local police rushed to the spot, but the assailants had already fled.Paliganj SHO Santosh Kumar Singh said the incident occurred late at night near Akhtiyarpur bridge. “A police team reached the spot after receiving information. By then, the attackers had escaped. One round was fired at the vehicle. Further action will be taken after we receive a written complaint from the department,” he said.Police have launched an investigation and are collecting evidence from the spot to identify the attackers.
