Gurgaon: An investigation by the district education officer (DEO) has led to closure orders against two unrecognised private schools running illegal dummy setups for senior secondary students, leaving around 875 students facing an uncertain academic future.RB Kids School in Krishna Nagar, Basai Road, and First Step School in Bhavani Enclave were ordered shut after on-site inspections conducted on Aug 17, 2026, confirmed they were operating without govt recognition while charging parents exorbitant fees for non-attending classes. The action follows a formal complaint filed by a local, Amit Yadav, alleging that unrecognised schools were collecting hefty sums from parents to run dummy classes for Classes 11 and 12 through fraudulent tie-ups with recognised CBSE schools.According to official documents from the DEO office, RB Kids School had enrolled 525 students without valid authorisation, charging between ₹10,000 and ₹15,000 per month per student to fraudulently register them under Karnal Public School for board examinations. A closure report was issued against the school after Karnal Public School submitted an affidavit denying any tie-up with it.First Step School was found operating with 350 students under forged affiliation claims and was also ordered to shut down immediately. The complaint had also named Lady Florence Convent School, Basai Road — recognised only up to Class 8 — for allegedly running unauthorised Class 11 and 12 programmes, and Himgiri School, Pataudi Road, for misrepresenting its govt affiliation status and enrolling students up to Class 12 without mandatory approvals or infrastructure.Lady Florence Convent School was cleared after its management submitted an affidavit confirming that its operations were strictly restricted to the permitted Class 8 level. The issue was also raised before chief minister Nayab Singh Saini during a meeting of the district public grievances and redressal committee on Friday, following which he ordered a high-level departmental committee to examine the matter. Authorities are expected to investigate the functioning of such institutes, the role of recognised schools in these arrangements, and the status of students enrolled through them.
