Panaji: The Goa State Police Complaint Authority (GSPCA) has begun a preliminary inquiry in connection with the complaint filed by the electricity department against the North Goa SP, Panaji PI, and the PSI attached to Panaji police station for not registering an FIR against cable operators for allegedly laying illegal cables on electricity poles.GSPCA secretary Nancy Fernandes issued a notice to the complainant, Kashinath Shetye, executive engineer of the electricity department, to conduct a preliminary inquiry into his complaint filed on behalf of the electricity department. The authority will hear the matter on March 12.In his complaint before the SPCA, Shetye said he filed a complaint before the Panaji police seeking that an FIR be registered after a cable operator and his workers were caught red-handed when a pole fell, and the internet cables were tied to another old pole.Shetye said that the department received an oral complaint from a resident of Miramar that two persons had trespassed on an electricity pole and that the pole fell while they pulled cables without a licence or permission from the department. He said that he called 112 and lodged a complaint. “The complaint was filed before the PSI. But the PSI and PI did not register the FIR, in violation of the order and judgment of the Supreme Court,” Shetye said.
