Patna: A private school principal died after a truck ran over her while she was returning from Nalanda district on Tuesday morning. The accident took place around 6am near Raispar on Rajgir-Islampur main road under Chhabilapur police station area.The deceased was identified as Mamta Kumari, 25, a resident of Navadapar village under Neemchak Bathani police station area in Gaya district. She was principal of City Public School in Raispur and lived on the school campus with her husband, Sanjeet Kumar, the school’s director, and their two children.Mamta had gone to a nearby temple for Teej puja and was returning to the campus when the truck hit her. She fell on the road and was run over.DSP Sanjeet Kumar Gupta said Mamta died on the spot and the driver fled with the vehicle.Hundreds of villagers later placed her body on the road and blocked Rajgir-Islampur main road, demanding a speed breaker, the driver’s arrest and compensation for the family.Police assured protesters of legal action and assistance to the family as per govt provisions.
