Jaipur: Former chief minister Vasundhara Raje on Sunday urged the BJP leadership to prioritise loyal and committed party workers for political appointments, cautioning against rewarding opportunists.Addressing party workers at the state BJP office on the party’s foundation day, Raje reflected on the organisation’s 46-year journey, marked by shifting loyalties and changing affiliations. “Some people change parties, and some change loyalties. There are also those who change parties but not their mindset. It is important that we recognise and reward those who have remained committed to the party’s core ideology,” she said. She stressed that dedication and long-term contribution to the organisation must be the key criteria for appointments. “Opportunities should be given to those who have worked for the party and believe in its ideology, not to opportunists,” Raje said. Recalling the legacy of leaders such as Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Deendayal Upadhyaya, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Lal Krishna Advani, Vijaya Raje Scindia and Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, she said the party’s foundation was built on struggle and ideological commitment, and has been further strengthened under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Raje also advised workers to focus on their work rather than seeking positions. “Do not work for posts. If you work sincerely, positions will follow,” she said, citing Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia as an example of selfless leadership. She credited Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and state BJP president Madan Rathore for effectively taking the party’s message to the grassroots.
