Alwar: Principal Lal Chand Meena of Govt Senior Secondary School in Alwar’s Padak Chapli was suspended Saturday after a video of him bathing with female students at Bharaj dam went viral.Villagers alleged that the girls were taken into the dam on Aug 15 in the name of teaching them swimming, without life jackets or adequate safety arrangements.Directorate of Secondary Education, Bikaner, issued the suspension order against Meena, stating that the video, which surfaced on Aug 22, showed him bathing in a dam in an “objectionable position” with female students. The department said the act was against the ethical conduct and code of conduct prescribed for a public servant.A departmental inquiry has also been initiated against Meena. The suspension takes immediate effect, with Directorate of Secondary Education, Bikaner, designated as his headquarters during the suspension period. He will be paid subsistence allowance as per rules.The action came a day after the viral video prompted the education department to constitute a three-member committee to investigate the matter. Officials said the committee would record the statements of the students and submit a detailed report to the district education officer.
