Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a wide range of infrastructure and development projects from Vav-Tharad, including the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway, an access-controlled highway built at a cost of Rs 5,100 crore that is expected to improve regional connectivity and boost industrial growth in the Dholera Special Investment Region. Foundation stones were laid for the four-lane Idar-Badoli bypass section, the upgradation of the Dholavira-Mauvana-Vauva-Santalpur section of the national highway, and a flyover at Bhaijipura junction on the Gandhinagar-Koba-Airport road. He also inaugurated the flyover at PDPU junction on the same corridor, which connects Gandhinagar to the airport and carries more than 1.40 lakh vehicles daily. Among the major energy initiatives, key power transmission projects were inaugurated, including Khavda Pooling Station-2 and associated transmission systems for evacuation of 4.5GW of renewable energy. In the rail sector, the Prime Minister inaugurated the 29-km Kanalus-Jamnagar doubling project, the quadrupling of the 10.6-km Gandhidham-Adipur section, and the Himmatnagar-Khedbrahma gauge conversion project, while also flagging off the Khedbrahma-Himmatnagar-Asarwa train service. He also laid foundation stones and inaugurated 44 urban development projects worth Rs 5,300 crore, along with an 858-bed Rain Basera at Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad and a similar facility at Gandhinagar Civil Hospital and GMERS Medical College in Gandhinagar. Tourism projects inaugurated included a light and sound show at Rani Ki Vav and a water screen projection show at Vadnagar. In North Gujarat, two pipeline projects worth Rs 1,780 crore — Kasara-Dantiwada and Dindrol-Mukteshwar — were inaugurated, and the foundation stone was laid for the Sabarmati Riverfront extension projects.
