Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy instructed officials to prepare a Core Urban Area Act to replace the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Act. This new act will apply to the three corporations within the Outer Ring Road (Core Urban Region Economy).He suggested that the law should form the basis for all permissions, fees, development work and other matters. In the 99-day programme, the CM said that the govt will carry out work within the municipal limits with great pride.During the review meeting on municipal administration and urban development at the Secretariat on Friday, the CM told officials to prioritise sanitation in the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE). “In many areas, people do not know where to throw rubbish, so they throw it in empty spaces. Action should be taken against those who throw rubbish anywhere instead of in the designated areas,” he said, suggesting that areas for rubbish disposal should first be identified and signs erected.Revanth said that the construction of roads in the core urban area should be handled responsibly. “Once the road has been constructed, its lifespan should be determined, and if the road needs to be rebuilt, officials should be held accountable,” said the CM, adding that: “All the roads under the jurisdiction of R&B and other departments in the core urban area should come under the jurisdiction of MAUD. The confusion arising from roads being under the jurisdiction of different owners should be eliminated.“Regarding food safety, Revanth ordered that CCTV cameras be installed in the kitchens of all hotels in the city and connected to the command control centre. “Frequent inspections should be conducted and monitoring should continue,” he told officials.Furthermore, Revanth instructed the officials to prioritise fire safety in the core urban area. “Advanced equipment and technology must be provided to prevent fire hazards in buildings with more than 50 floors,” he said.The CM instructed officials to complete govt offices within Bharat Future City by the stipulated deadline.He ordered that the necessary steps be taken to develop large ponds and lakes in the city. He also suggested installing water harvesting wells in the city’s districts and collecting rainwater.
