Prayagraj: With the southwest monsoon yet to arrive, Prayagraj continued to reel under scorching heat and sultry weather on Sunday, topping Uttar Pradesh’s heat chart for the second consecutive day. The city recorded a maximum temperature of 43.4 degrees Celsius, the highest in the state, while Agra followed at 42.6 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in the Sangam City settled at 30 degrees Celsius. Two-wheeler riders were seen covering their faces with helmets or cotton cloth to shield themselves from the scorching sun. Many residents turned to cold beverages, including bel sharbat, aam panna and lemon water, to stay hydrated amid the oppressive weather.Doctors advised people to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, drink plenty of fluids and take adequate precautions to prevent dehydration and heat-related illnesses.
