Prayagraj: In a major technological leap aimed at strengthening railway security, the North Central Railway’s Prayagraj Division installed an advanced CCTV surveillance system atop a 20-metre-high electric high mast in the Electric Trip Shed yard.Cameras installed at lower heights often fail to capture a comprehensive view of sprawling yard areas, leaving certain sections beyond clear visibility. But with the new high-mounted camera officials can now obtain bird’s-eye view of the entire yard. The system enables round-the-clock live monitoring of track lines, locomotive berthing zones, and previously obscured sections of the yard ith full HD vision and a powerful zoom function . It also features 360-degree rotation capability and smart motion detection technology.According to officials, the CCTV unit is fitted with a 2.54 cm (1/2.8″) progressive scan CMOS sensor and supports a resolution of up to 1920 × 1080 pixels (Full HD). It offers 32× optical zoom and 16× digital zoom, along with 360-degree endless pan rotation, ensuring seamless coverage of the entire yard area. Additional smart features include motion detection, video tampering detection, exception alerts, and alarm input-output provisions, making the system highly responsive to potential security breaches. The system is equipped with IP66 protection standards, 4,000V TVS lightning protection, surge protection, and voltage transient safeguards. Divisional PRO Amit Kumar Singh said the initiative will significantly strengthen the protection of railway assets, deter unauthorised access, and facilitate effective incident analysis.
