Patliputra University

Patna: Patliputra University (PPU) has invited applications from eligible teachers for promotion under the University Grants Commission (UGC) 2018 regulations through the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS).

PPU registrar Abu Bakar said eligible faculty members have been asked to submit their applications by Sept 15. The exercise aims to provide career advancement opportunities to teachers in accordance with UGC norms.

Recently, the university promoted 61 teachers to higher academic positions, including professor, associate professor and senior teacher ranks. Among them, B D College teachers Pushpendra Kumar Verma of the physics department and Pravin Kumar of the geography department were promoted to professor.

Bakar said the promotions were granted after scrutiny of academic records, research contributions and other criteria prescribed under CAS guidelines. He added that PPU would be the first state university to consider promotions to the senior professor rank, from Academic Level 14 to Level 15, as per UGC regulations.

In another administrative decision, the university has decided to withdraw 16 faculty members deputed to newly established state degree colleges after the appointment of regular teachers there. The teachers had been sent earlier to ensure smooth academic activities, Bakar said.

He said the move is aimed at streamlining academic administration and ensuring better utilisation of faculty resources across constituent, affiliated and degree colleges in Patna and Nalanda districts.
