Patna: Patliputra University (PPU) has approved the introduction of several career-oriented undergraduate and postgraduate courses in colleges across Patna and Nalanda districts from the 2026-27 academic session.The initiative aims to expand skill-based and employment-oriented education opportunities within the university’s jurisdiction. The new programmes cover emerging and industry-relevant fields such as information technology, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, commerce and library science.PPU registrar Abu Bakar said A N College, Patna, has been permitted to start MSc IT and MCom programmes with 60 and 30 seats, respectively. JD Women’s College will introduce Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) and MCom courses, with 30 seats each.TPS College has been approved to offer Bachelor of Library and Information Science (BLIS), BSc IT and BSc Environmental Science, with 60 seats in each course.In Nalanda district, Sardar Patel Memorial College, Udwantpuri, will start an MLIS programme with 30 seats, while Kisan College, Sohsarai, has been allowed to introduce a BSc programme in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science with 60 seats. S U College, Hilsa, will offer BSc IT with 60 seats.Among other colleges under PPU, R S College, Mokama, will start a BLIS course with 30 seats. M D College, Naubatpur, has been permitted to offer BCom with 30 seats and BSc Biotechnology with 60 seats. A N S College, Barh, will introduce MCom with 30 seats and BLIS with 60 seats.University officials said the new professional courses would provide students with wider higher education options while improving their employability by aligning academic programmes with industry requirements.“The colleges will begin the admission process for these courses in the 2026-27 academic session after completing the necessary formalities,” Bakar said.
