Namakkal: A power loom worker was electrocuted while operating a machine at a unit in Kumarapalayam in Namakkal district on Sunday.The deceased, M Raja, 40, was operating a power loom for daily wages at a unit run by Shanmugam in Kannagi Nagar, near Kumarapalayam.Police said Raja came to work at 3am on Sunday and a while later informed Shanmugam that he had been experiencing an electric shock from the machine since morning. While Shanmugam called an electrician, Raja continued working on the loom.Around 8am, Raja was electrocuted in the leg and collapsed on the spot. Maragatham, who was working nearby, switched off the power supply and called for help.Raja was rushed to the Kumarapalayam Government Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.Kumarapalayam police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
