Patna: Contrary to the perception that the state’s new CM Samrat Choudhary represents a BJP-only govt, both the JD(U) and BJP have put up large flex billboards outside their state headquarters highlighting that he heads an NDA govt.On Wednesday, governor Syed Ata Hasnain administered the oath of office to Samrat, along with two ministers from the JD(U), Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav, who are designated as deputy chief ministers. The BJP has 89 MLAs, while the JD(U) has 85.
Soon after the swearing-in ceremony, the posters outside both party offices drew public attention. Giant billboards featuring Samrat at the centre also carried images of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former CM Nitish Kumar on the top left, and BJP leaders on the top right.A prominent poster at the JD(U) headquarters read, “Ham sabki hai NDA sarkar tabhi vikas ki patri paar. Daud raha hai Bihar (It is our NDA govt. Therefore, we have crossed the developmental track. It is Bihar that is running on it).” It also carried images of Nitish and Narendra Modi.Another poster highlighted the slogan, “Do dashak Bihar ke/Nav nirman ke (Two decades of Bihar/Are its tale of reconstruction),” alongside visuals of key landmarks such as Bapu Tower, Rajgir Stadium and Sabhyata Dwar.Several smaller posters reflected JD(U) workers’ concerns after Nitish stepped down, describing a sense of being “orphaned” and calling for a role for Nishant, whom they see as a future chief minister.
