GANDHINAGAR: A portion of an under-construction building collapsed in the Kudasan area of Gandhinagar on Wednesday evening, prompting the local administration to launch a massive rescue operation at the site. As per initial reports, more than 10 people are feared trapped under the debris.Teams from the fire brigade, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and police deployed at the site. Rescue personnel are working to locate those feared trapped and remove them from the debris.Rajesh Patel, a fire official in Gandhinagar, said teams were engaged in rescue operations and that more details were awaited.Deputy chief minister Harsh Sanghavi arrived at the spot to take stock of the situation as rescue operations continued.Senior officials and emergency response teams are monitoring the operation, while efforts are underway to ascertain the circumstances that led to the collapse.The incident comes days after the collapse of a five-storey building housing a paying guest accommodation in Delhi’s Satya Niketan, where seven people were killed, prompting renewed scrutiny of building safety and construction practices.Authorities are continuing rescue efforts in Gandhinagar, with teams searching through the debris for any survivors.
