CHENNAI: Former chief minister M K Stalin on Saturday slammed the TVK government for unleashing the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) to raid the residence and properties of DMK Principal Secretary K N Nehru. Terming the search operations “politically motivated”, Stalin alleged that they were staged to deflect attention from the alleged horse-trading of MLAs and the agency’s failure to register a case over it.Taking to social media, Stalin questioned the timing of the raids at 19 locations, pointing out that they were being carried out while an Assembly session was underway and related matters were pending before the High Court. “The raid against party Principal Secretary Nehru is a politically motivated move by the TVK govt,” he said.He further stated that the people of Tamil Nadu were well aware of TVK’s involvement in horse-trading, alleging that the ruling party coaxed MLAs from other political outfits to resign and join TVK on the Secretariat premises. He criticised the DVAC for failing to register a case regarding those allegations and described the sequence of events as “black days in the history of democracy”.“As usual, the ruling party is resorting to tactics aimed at diverting public attention,” Stalin added, asserting that neither the DMK nor its senior leader Nehru would be intimidated by such gimmicks and that they would fight the cases legally.
