Nagpur: City cops transformed into real-life guardians for anxious NEET aspirants on Sunday, ensuring technical glitches did not shatter dreams. An examinee, Aachal, was found crying inconsolably outside the NEET centre at Khapri Gate after she was denied entry for not possessing a colour printout of her hall ticket. With the clock ticking and panic setting in, alert police officers stepped in. “We gently enquired about the issue and swiftly escorted the girl in a police jeep to a colour xerox shop in Manish Nagar. The printout was arranged and the relieved aspirant was safely dropped back at the centre, allowing her to appear for the medical entrance examination,” said senior inspector of Beltarodi police station Ritesh Aher. He said the police brass had instructed cops to ensure students and their parents received assistance. In a parallel act of kindness, four other NEET candidates faced a similar crisis — they arrived without passport-size photographs required for exam formalities. Undeterred, the police team promptly took them to a nearby photo studio, paid for the photographs from their own pockets and ensured they were escorted back to the examination hall in time.“The swift and humane intervention by police prevented what could have been devastating setbacks for students on one of the most important days of their academic lives,” said a senior official.Parents and bystanders present at the centre lauded the officers for their proactive approach with many calling it a shining example of police-public partnership. In several cities, similar stories of police and administrative help during NEET and other competitive exams highlighted the human side of law enforcement.
