Chatra: An encounter took place between the police and the TSPC extremist organisation in Angada forest under Kunda police station area on Sunday at midnight. Officials said that the police team was conducting a search operation after receiving information about extremist movements in the Angada area. During this, an encounter took place with TSPC. Neither the police nor the extremists suffered any loss in the encounter. No one has been arrested yet.Officials said that as soon as the extremists spotted the police team, they opened fire. In retaliation, the jawans also fired. Seeing the security forces overpowering them, all the militants fled from the spot. Officials said the extremists were 7 to 8 in number and managed to escape by taking advantage of the forest.After the gun battle was over, a police team launched a massive search operation in the area, recovering items of daily use from the spot. These included mobile phones, power banks, food items, medicines, injections, syringes, umbrellas, shoes, and other items. Police said that Shashikant’s squad was involved in the encounter.Kunda police station officer-in-charge Prince Kumar Singh and SSB 35 BN assistant commandant Siddharth Singh were leading the police team. Police said that a search operation is ongoing in the area and further action is being taken. Singh said that no extremist outfit will be allowed to operate in the area, and for this, the police are always ready for necessary action. He said a case number 18/25 has been registered against the following extremists.
