Patna: With several major festivals approaching, police have stepped up preparations to prevent anti-social activities, ease traffic and ensure a peaceful festive season in Patna. SSP Kartikeya Sharma has asked police station in charges to intensify patrolling, monitor suspicious activities and remain prepared to respond quickly to law-and-order situations.The SSP asked police officers to coordinate with traffic police to prevent congestion at major intersections, markets and other crowded areas. Police stations were also directed to remove encroachments from busy stretches and prevent haphazard parking, particularly at places expected to witness heavy footfall.The directions were issued during a review meeting at the Police Line auditorium late Friday night, attended by sub-divisional police officers, station house officers and circle inspectors from across Patna district. The meeting focused on crime control, case disposal and preparations for the upcoming festivals.Sharma also reviewed the performance of police stations over the past month, assessing case disposal, arrests and submission of charge sheets. Naubatpur, Phulwarisharif and Bihta police stations emerged as top performers.The SSP appreciated the three station in charges and asked others to improve their performance. He stressed the need to pursue pending cases promptly and warned officers against negligence.Sharma said regular performance reviews would be held to strengthen accountability and improve policing. He said ensuring a safe environment for the public remained the top priority of Patna Police.“In view of the upcoming festivals, the police stations have been asked to intensify the patrolling in their respective areas and keep a check of sensitive areas, to ensure peaceful celebration,” the SSP said.
