Patna: The Patna high court on Friday directed the state govt to complete the pending work of developing green parks around the Bihar Judicial Academy (BJA) at Gaighat in Patna City by Nov 30.A division bench of Acting Chief Justice Sudhir Singh and Justice Rajesh Kumar Verma passed the order while hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by the academy itself, based on an assurance given by three state govt departmental secretaries present in court.The bench was informed that Anand Kishor, additional chief secretary of the environment, forest and climate change department; Vinay Kumar, principal secretary of the urban development and housing department; and Pankaj Kumar Pal, secretary of the road construction department, were present in court.The judges initially expressed displeasure over the delay in completing the development of a park on govt land around the academy. The land had been freed from encroachment following earlier orders of the high court.Anand Kishor, in his capacity as additional chief secretary of the environment, forest and climate change department, assured the court that the pending work would be completed by Nov 30.The court asked advocate Piyush Lal, counsel for the academy, to monitor the progress of work being undertaken by the three departments. The matter will be heard next on Dec 11.
