J&K Police on Wednesday successfully solved a theft case within three hours by arresting the accused lady involved in the commission of the crime and recovered the stolen property in Awantipora.
A Spokesperson said that Police Station Awantipora received a complaint from Shaiq Ahmad Bhat, resident of Rajpora Ullar, stating therein that some unknown thieves had stolen gold ornaments and cash from his residential house. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 33/2026 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Awantipora, and investigation was initiated.
During the course of investigation, a police team under the supervision of SHO Police Station Awantipora, and with the assistance of modern investigative techniques, including collection and analysis of CCTV footage from various locations, established the involvement of a lady accused identified as Asmat Jan, daughter of Jalal Ud Din Bhat resident of Rajpora Ullar. Accordingly, the lady accused was arrested. Stolen property worth approximately ₹14,00,000 (Fourteen lakh rupees) was also recovered from her possession.
J&K Police reaffirm their commitment to swift investigation, timely action, and protection of public property. Further investigation is still going on.
