Nagpur: The crime branch on Sunday raided a rented flat at Lokhande Layout near IT Park and busted an online gambling and cricket betting racket, seizing ₹40 lakh in cash.Four accused, including flat owner Aman Pathak, were arrested during the operation carried out under the supervision of DCP Rishikesh Reddy by a team led by senior inspector Pankaj Bondse.The cash, in ₹100, ₹200, and ₹500 denominations, was concealed in tin containers filled with grains and other food items. The accused failed to produce any documents to establish a legitimate source of the money, which police suspect to be proceeds of cricket betting.Earlier, police had seized ₹4 lakh linked to 11 companies along with 10 bank passbooks, taking the total value of recovered items to ₹44 lakh. A laptop worth ₹50,000 was also recovered in the presence of panch witnesses.Other arrested accused have been identified as Akash Guhil (27), Shreyas Lanjewar (21), and Mushir Ahmed Matin Ahmed (22). Another accused, identified as SK and believed to be using multiple mobile numbers, is absconding.Investigations revealed that the group operated illegal online betting links, issued user IDs and passwords, facilitated financial transactions, and routed money through fake bank accounts to evade taxes and defraud the government.
