Nagpur: A pamphlet and banner allegedly issued in the name of an alleged guerrilla, ‘Comrade Ashok’, of Maoist Communist Party were found near Kundam village at Etapalli taluka in South Gadchiroli, on Sunday, sparking fresh security concerns. The discovery, three-and-half months after Union home minister Amit Shah’s deadline to eradicate Naxalism, prompted security forces to swing into action. The banner and pamphlet reportedly called for protests against various companies and development projects in Yashiwada, Hedalkasa-Kudri-Moharli, and Khemragad-Pipili Burgi. They allegedly demand closure of mining projects, claiming threats to forests, land, and local livelihoods, while issuing a warning to govt supporters. The language and references in the documents have drawn scrutiny. While Maoist pamphlets typically use specific ideological phrasing, this one showed variations, leading to suspicion it may be the handiwork of a local individual rather than a guerrilla, said a police source. Police officials claimed that despite ongoing security measures, such incidents indicate possible attempts to create unrest.Following the find, police initiated a thorough search operation in the surrounding jungle and sensitive areas. Security forces intensified patrolling and kicked off investigations to verify the authenticity and source of the material.Officials emphasized that Gadchiroli is witnessing development and gram sabha-led initiatives, and such elements will not be allowed to disrupt progress, said SP Gadchiroli M Ramesh. Investigations are underway to trace those behind the propaganda machinery.
