Rajesh Kumar Pandey | TNNDumka: Police in Dumka and Deoghar made separate arrests this week following intelligence-based raids against narcotics and extortion networks.In Dumka, police arrested Ankit Kumar Mishra and Anirudh Gorai, both 20-year-old residents of Rasikpur, after a raid at an under-construction house in Kurmahat under Hansdiha police station on Monday.Officers recovered 5.02 grams of suspected brown sugar from Mishra and 4.04 grams from Gorai, while three other suspects fled. The raid followed a tip-off about youths allegedly buying, selling and consuming drugs near Dhawatand Road.An NDPS case was registered, and both accused were sent to judicial custody.In Deoghar, police arrested Roshan Kumar Jha alias Chhota, Vijay Chauhan alias Vijay Gupta and Satyam Kumar Yadav near Hari Sharanam Kutiya for allegedly planning extortion ahead of Shravani Mela. Police recovered a country-made pistol, three live 8mm cartridges and a motorcycle. Deoghar district SP Praveen Pushkar said strict security action would protect pilgrims, traders and residents.
