Shopian, Mar 13: In order to ensure fair trade practices and safeguard the interests of consumers during the holy month of Ramzan, Police in Shopian, in close coordination with the Food Safety and Revenue Departments, launched an extensive market inspection drive across the district.
Joint inspection teams conducted thorough checks across major markets, inspecting shops dealing in essential commodities, food items, fruits, vegetables, bakery products and other Ramzan-related goods.
The drive focused particularly on ensuring proper display of rate lists, maintenance of quality standards of food items and adherence to hygienic conditions within the establishments.
Shopkeepers were directed to comply with government regulations maintain transparency in pricing, avoid overcharging and ensure proper sanitation and hygiene while handling food products.
They were also advised to keep their premises clean and provide quality goods to the public. The joint teams emphasized that any violation of government norms sale of substandard food items or overpricing will invite strict legal action as per law.
