Times News NetworkKanpur: Police busted a gang that targeted locked houses across different police station areas and committed thefts via rooftops. Five accused were arrested, including three juvenile offenders, in connection with theft incidents reported about 20 days ago in Maswanpur under the limits of Rawatpur police station and about 10 days ago near Sarai Chauraha in the Kalyanpur police station limits.Cops made the arrests on the basis of CCTV footage, surveillance and other important clues. During interrogation, police learnt that the juvenile offenders identified locked houses, entered via rooftops and stole jewellery by breaking lockers of almirahs. Police recovered stolen jewellery from the possession of the arrested accused. Police said efforts are on to arrest the absconding accused.During interrogation, police also found that the juvenile offenders were earlier involved in theft incidents. All the arrested accused will being produced before the Court. On the successful unravelling of the case, the police team was rewarded with a prize of Rs 25,000 by the Deputy Commissioner of Police West SM Qasim Abidi.
