T’puram: Kundara police arrested a 26-year-old man accused of trespassing into houses and sexually assaulting women in various parts of the region.The accused, identified as Gokul Krishna of Umayanalloor, was nabbed from Kottiyam police station limits with the assistance of locals after he allegedly attempted to evade arrest.Police said the arrest was made in connection with an incident reported on Sunday. According to police, the accused allegedly entered a house when no adults were present and attempted to sexually assault a school student who was alone at the residence. The student raised an alarm, prompting the accused to flee on his scooter.During the probe, police found that the accused had allegedly been involved in similar incidents in Kundara, Kannanalloor and nearby areas. However, many affected families had not approached police due to social stigma and fear of embarrassment.A breakthrough came after one of the affected families lodged a formal complaint with police, enabling investigators to gather crucial leads. Based on the information collected, police released CCTV visuals and photographs of the accused two days ago and intensified the search. He was later arrested with the help of locals.
