New Delhi: Delhi Police has arrested three people, including a former multi-tasking staff (MTS) employee of income tax department, for allegedly running a fake govt job recruitment racket that duped unemployed aspirants by promising them MTS posts. Police said the gang is suspected to have cheated six to seven victims of around Rs 10 lakh.The accused have been identified as Rohit Chauhan (37), a freelance placement agent; Chirag Aggarwal (41), an ex-MTS employee of income tax department at the civic centre; and Tarun Goswami (37), a freelance placement agent and property dealer. Another former MTS employee has been bound down, while efforts are on to trace the alleged mastermind.The case surfaced after an Ajmeri Gate resident complained that he had been cheated of Rs 2 lakh on the promise of a govt job. DCP (central) Rohit Rajbir Singh said,” Chirag posed as an income tax department employee and introduced the complainant to Rohit, who allegedly collected money and conducted the fake recruitment process using forged verification forms.”Police tracked bank accounts and technical evidence before arresting the accused. Investigators said the gang targeted unemployed youth through social media ads, charging Rs 1-2 lakh per candidate. Victims were allegedly taken to the income tax department premises at the civic centre for fake interviews and orientation sessions to make the recruitment process appear genuine, but no appointment letters or official identity cards were ever issued.
