Bengaluru: High drama unfolded in Devanahalli Tuesday when a man climbed a nine-storeyed apartment building and threatened to end his life, demanding that the deputy commissioner be brought to the spot.The man, Anand, is accused in two Pocso cases and of waylaying and attempting to assault the Chikkaballapur DC. He scaled the private apartment near the Devanahalli bypass around 3pm, shouting that he wanted justice and refusing to come down unless the DC arrived.Police and fire and emergency services rushed to the scene and began negotiations, but Anand remained adamant. Sources said he had earlier spent four years in jail in connection with a Pocso case, though the exact trigger for his protest remains unclear.In an emotional appeal, his mother reached the spot and urged him to climb down, but he initially refused. Throughout the stand-off, Anand claimed his mobile phone had been compromised and reiterated his demand for justice.After nearly four hours of tense negotiations, he was finally persuaded to descend safely around 7pm. Devanahalli police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
