New Delhi: State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (Sotto) was made operational at GB Pant Hospital Thursday as chief minister Rekha Gupta launched an organ donation platform to encourage more people to register as donors.Gupta launched the campaign under Seva Sankalp Abhiyan to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday and herself pledged to donate her organs. The initiative, which will run from Sept 17 to Oct 17, seeks to turn organ donation into a people-driven movement.On Organ Donation Pledge Portal, launched at Delhi Secretariat, citizens can register online and take a pledge to donate their organs, following which an automated digital pledge certificate will be generated.Appealing to Delhiites to participate in the campaign, Gupta said organ donation reflected the spirit of Seva Sankalp and one person’s decision to donate organs could help save several lives. Govt plans to use digital platforms, awareness drives, educational institutions, healthcare facilities and community-level activities to promote the campaign.Health minister Pankaj Kumar Singh said the portal would make the process more accessible and encourage greater public participation. He said Gupta had become the first person to register on the SOTTO website and urged citizens to follow her example. Sotto is responsible for managing, coordinating and overseeing organ and tissue donation and transplantation activities in a state.Delhi govt also organised a blood donation camp at Thyagaraj Stadium as part of the month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan and 2,080 units of blood were collected.Chief minister, other Delhi ministers, Union minister of state Harsh Malhotra, MLAs and other dignitaries donated blood at the camp. Calling blood donation a major act of service, Malhotra urged people to continue contributing to such initiatives.Meanwhile, two special songs made by Delhi govt schoolchildren were released at the secretariat. Gupta launched the songs and joined schoolchildren in singing them. Education minister Ashish Sood and students from govt schools were present. The children also presented greetings cards to Gupta.Delhi BJP also began its Seva Sankalp Abhiyan 2026 Thursday. Blood donation camps were organised across all 14 party districts in the morning, while ‘Ashirwad ke Diyes’ were lit in the evening. BJP national president Nitin Nabin inaugurated a blood donation camp at the party’s central office and donated blood.
