Patna: Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has proposed six major projects worth Rs 2,463.91 crore, including the redevelopment of Khetan Market and New Market, creation of citywide vending zones, construction of a multi-storey shopping complex in Ward 42, development of a guest house-cum-citizen facilitation centre in Sri Krishnapuri, and establishment of urban green and recreational infrastructure, as part of its plan to strengthen urban infrastructure and boost civic revenues.According to an official release issued on Wednesday, the proposals will move to the detailed project report (DPR) stage after PMC signs an agreement with an agency selected by the urban development and housing department. Under the proposed funding model, PMC will raise 50% of the project cost through market-based financial resources, while the state and central governments will contribute 25% each.Civic officials said the projects are expected to create modern commercial infrastructure, improve facilities for street vendors, expand recreational spaces and generate additional revenue for the municipal body while supporting Patna’s long-term urban development.The largest project is the redevelopment of Khetan Market into a multi-storey commercial complex under the public-private partnership (PPP) model at an estimated cost of Rs 736.41 crore.Another major proposal involves creating organised vending zones across the city at a cost of Rs 724.93 crore to provide dedicated spaces for street vendors.PMC has also proposed redeveloping New Market near Patna Junction into a modern multi-storey commercial complex for Rs 590.05 crore. In addition, a multi-storey shopping complex worth Rs 280.44 crore has been planned in Ward 42.A guest house-cum-citizen facilitation centre is proposed in Sri Krishnapuri at an estimated cost of Rs 82.08 crore. Spread over around 19,000 sq ft, the facility will house a banquet hall, guest rooms, a restaurant and other public amenities.To enhance public spaces, PMC has proposed urban green and recreational infrastructure worth Rs 50 crore. The project includes cycling tracks, walkways, landscaping and other civic amenities across the city.
