Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) commissioner Yashpal Meena conducted a field inspection of wards 24–27 on Thursday morning to assess urban drainage systems during rainfall. The visit covered nine vulnerable spots prone to slow drainage or recurring waterlogging.At the intersection near the divisional commissioner’s office, he directed officials to coordinate with the road construction department for a permanent solution after initial clearance using a super-sucker machine. At the district magistrate’s residence, he ordered installation of hume pipes to divert water into the drainage network within the Gandhi Maidan and Gyan Bhawan complex.Near Gandhi Maidan Gate no. 5, Meena ordered controlled night-time excavation to clear a blocked underground drain, with immediate road restoration to minimise traffic disruption. At Bans Ghat, he asked engineers to assess ageing infrastructure and prepare a plan to increase capacity through additional piping.In Dujra, he ordered safety measures, including cordoning off a pit near a collapsed drain at the TCS office and installing temporary pipes to maintain flow.In Buddha Colony, he directed interlinking of chambers near SK Puri Park Gate No. 8 and installation of gratings and pipes to improve discharge. The inspection also covered a collapsed drain in Kidwaipuri, with coordination with RCD, and reviews in Nehru Nagar and at the Planetarium.
