T’puram: The 101 BJP candidates, who won in the recently-held LSG polls in Kerala, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence in New Delhi on Thursday. Later, Modi shared photographs of the meeting on social media and said he discussed several issues with them, including ways to deepen BJP’s connect with the people, further the good governance agenda and improve ease of living.“At 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, hosted Kerala BJP panchayat members, municipality members and members of corporations from across Kerala, including Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, where BJP was blessed with a historic mandate,” he posted on his ‘X’ handle.BJP members in Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, including mayor V V Rajesh, presidents of 30 grama panchayats where BJP gained a majority and opposition leaders in local bodies were part of the delegation that left for Delhi by train on Feb 9.Before leaving, Rajesh told reporters that the delegation aimed to brief Modi on Thiruvananthapuram’s immediate and long-term infrastructure needs, including integrated urban development and faster implementation of Smart City projects. The delegation had already submitted a preliminary development document to the PM during his recent visit to the state capital.BJP leaders said the visit aimed to secure direct central support for flagship projects, fast track funding and approvals for key urban initiatives in the capital. BJP units organized receptions for the delegation along the train route. The delegation is expected to fly back to Thiruvananthapuram on Friday.
