Mumbai: A water pipeline leak triggered by ongoing road work disrupted supply across parts of south Mumbai on Wednesday evening.The incident was reported around 5.03 pm on Nepeansea Road, opposite Paradise Building, where construction activity led to damage to an underground water pipeline. As a precautionary measure, the water supply to surrounding areas was immediately shut down.The disruption affected residents of Simla House, Rungtha Lane, Setalvad Lane, Darabsha Lane and parts of Bhulabhai Desai Road during the scheduled evening supply hours between 5 pm and 8.30 pm.Civic officials said the Byculla maintenance team was rushed to the spot to carry out repair work, while ward staff were also mobilised to manage the situation.By 8 pm, the pipeline was temporarily restored and water supply resumed.Further repairs, if required, are likely to be taken up to prevent recurrence, officials added.
