Patna: In a move aimed at strengthening public transport and reducing petrol and diesel consumption, the Bihar legislative assembly secretariat bus service was officially inaugurated on Monday.Bihar assembly Speaker Prem Kumar flagged off the service. The event was attended by Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) administrator Atul Kumar Verma, chief of administration Subhash Narayan and other senior officials.Speaking on the occasion, Prem said promoting public transport had become a necessity in view of the prevailing global situation and energy crisis. He added the initiative was in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to reduce the consumption of petrol and diesel and encourage maximum use of public transport.“Under this new service, pink, electric and CNG buses have been introduced specifically for the daily commute of officers and employees working in the Bihar legislative assembly secretariat,” Prem said.BSRTC administrator Verma said the corporation was already operating 25 buses successfully under the secretariat bus service.“With the addition of five more buses, the dedicated Bihar legislative assembly secretariat bus service has now been formally launched. This expansion will provide more convenient and efficient transportation to officers, employees and general commuters,” he said.Special emphasis has been placed on operating pink, electric and CNG buses while keeping in mind the commuting needs of secretariat staff. The new bus service will operate daily on three major routes.On the AIIMS Patna to Bihar legislative assembly secretariat route, one electric, one CNG and one pink bus will operate. The buses will depart from AIIMS Patna at 8.30 am, 8.40 am and 8.50 am, respectively. They will pass through Phulwarisharif Golambar, Anisabad Golambar, Chitkohra Golambar, Kacchi Talab, Gardanibagh and Mithapur Pul before reaching the secretariat. The return journey will follow the same route.On the Saguna Mor to Bihar legislative assembly secretariat route, one electric bus will operate. It will depart from Saguna Mor at 8.05am and reach the secretariat at 9.15am via RPS Mor, Gola Road, Jagdeo Path, Ashiana Mor, Ramnagari, Rajiv Nagar police station, Rajbanshi Nagar and Shastri Nagar. The return service will also operate on the same route.On the Dhunki Mor via Kankarbagh Colony Mor route, one electric, one CNG and one pink bus will be deployed. The buses will depart from Dhunki Mor at 8.20 am, 8.25 am and 8.30 am, respectively. They will travel via Kumhrar, Bhootnath Mor, NMCH, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Kankarbagh Colony Mor, Karbigahiya Station and R-Block, serving the Bihar legislative assembly, Election Commission and Vikas Bhawan. Return trips will operate on the same route.
