T’puram: Leader of opposition Pinarayi Vijayan has urged Centre to call for an impartial high-level investigation supervised by the Supreme Court into the financial irregularities in donations collected from devotees and the public for the construction of the Ayodhya Ram temple.Terming the reports over the controversy as ‘deeply alarming’, Vijayan said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who played a central role in the Ayodhya temple consecration ceremonies, is duty-bound to respond to this matter.“The trust now under suspicion was created by the central govt through an order placed before Parliament. The trust and those leading it are accountable for explaining where the money collected by exploiting public devotion has gone,” he said.Vijayan also said that “it must be understood that those who exploited people’s faith and emotions for political gain also appear to have carried out an organized financial fraud under that cover. The trustees are individuals with links to the top ranks of Sangh Parivar organizations.”The alleged embezzlement of the Ayodhya temple fund is the latest example revealing the true nature of Sangh Parivar politics, Vijayan added.
