T’puram: A 22-year-old man was arrested after police seized a country-made pistol, two swords and a knife from his house at Malayinkeezhu on Saturday.The accused, identified as Ajith alias Kichu, is a resident of Kondodi, Malayinkeezhu.According to Naruvamoodu police, the seizure was made during a raid as part of Operation D-Hunt following a tip-off that narcotic substances were being stored and sold from the house.A police team led by SI Kiran Sasidharan reached the house around 7.40am. Police said during the search no narcotic substances were recovered. Instead, they found the weapons concealed in a rack in one of the bedrooms.Police said the accused failed to produce any valid licence for possessing the weapons and could not satisfactorily explain why they were being kept.The accused was booked under Sections 3 and 4 read with Sections 25(1-B)(a) and 25(1-B)(b) of the Arms Act, which deal with possession of firearms and other weapons without a valid licence. Further investigation is under way.
