Thiruvananthapuram: Leader of the opposition Pinarayi Vijayan has demanded that the UDF govt complete the Mundakkai-Chooralmala rehabilitation township on a war footing and provide safe houses to all landslide-affected families without further delay. In a Facebook post marking the second anniversary of the disaster, Vijayan paid homage to those who lost their lives and expressed solidarity with families that lost their loved ones and are awaiting complete rehabilitation. He said 149 families are yet to receive permanent homes. According to Vijayan, roof slab work on 308 of the 410 houses was completed by the LDF govt, while houses were handed over to 178 families in the first phase.Vijayan alleged that rehabilitation work had slowed considerably after the UDF govt assumed office, with roof slab work completed on only nine houses in 70 days. He said unnecessary transfers of officials holding key positions, along with a lack of coordination, have adversely affected the project.
