Nagpur: A PIL has been filed at the Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court against alleged flaws in the examination system, delays in results, and administrative mismanagement at Nagpur University. The petition seeks judicial intervention on issues that directly affect the academic future of thousands of students.The PIL has been filed by Neeraj Dharashivkar. According to the petition, the university’s examination process is frequently marked by confusion and poor planning, with repeated failure to adhere to the declared timetable. It alleges persistent delays in conducting examinations, inordinate delay in declaring results, and serious shortcomings in the evaluation of answer scripts.The petition further points out that errors are often found in results, while the re-evaluation process is also not completed within a reasonable timeframe. These recurring problems, it states, have become a regular feature of the university’s examination system.As a result, students are being forced to endure severe mental stress, which is having a direct impact on their academic progress. The petitioner has highlighted that delays in results adversely affect admissions to higher education courses, employment opportunities, and participation in various competitive examinations. Several students, the plea notes, face difficulties during admission processes due to non-declaration of results on time.The petition has accused the university administration of apathy, stating that despite repeated complaints and representations, no concrete corrective measures have been taken. It also alleges a lack of transparency and accountability in the conduct and management of examinations.The petitioner has urged the court to intervene and issue necessary directions to ensure that examinations are conducted in a timely, transparent and efficient manner. The PIL also seeks directions for framing a robust policy to prevent academic loss to students and protect their educational interests.
