Bhubaneswar: The directorate of higher secondary education (DHSE) on Wednesday announced the schedule for Phase-II online admissions to vacant seats in higher secondary schools for the 2026-27 academic session, with the process set to begin on Aug 24.The admission process will be conducted through the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) portal. The Common Application Form (CAF) will be available from Aug 24 and candidates can submit their applications till Aug 31.DHSE officials said the first selection merit list will be published on Sept 3. Selected students will have to report to their allotted institutions between Sept 7 and 10, during which schools will also update admission data. Institutions can rectify errors in the data till Sept 11.Candidates will get an opportunity to lock their choices and submit fresh options between Sept 12 and 16. The online spot selection merit and waiting lists will be published on Sept 21, with admissions for selected candidates scheduled from Sept 22 to 25.If seats remain vacant after the spot admissions, handwritten applications from candidates on the waiting list will be accepted on Sept 26 and merit lists will also be published the same day.Students who have passed the high school certificate (HSC) examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha, or an equivalent examination conducted by another recognised board are eligible to apply.Admissions under Phase-II will be made strictly on merit, with no reservation or weightage. Officials added that candidates who applied in Phase-I but were not selected can apply again without paying the CAF fee, while fresh applicants will have to pay the prescribed fee.The directorate has cautioned applicants to fill in the CAF carefully, as errors or incorrect information could lead to rejection of their applications. It said allotment in the first selection would be based on vacancies available as on Aug 31, while spot allotment would take into account vacancies available as on Sept 16. No claims will be entertained for vacancies arising after the respective cut-off dates.
