Rohtak: Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak, has placed fifth among medical colleges in the country in the IIRF India Rankings 2026.The International Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) is an India-based organisation that publishes annual rankings of higher education institutions.The achievement places PGIMS, Rohtak — a constituent institution of the Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (PBDSUHS) — as the number one medical college in Haryana and among the top institutions in the north zone, marking a significant milestone for the state’s medical education and healthcare sector.The institute also performed strongly across other disciplines. According to the university, its dental college ranked sixth nationally and first in Haryana, while physiotherapy ranked fourth nationally and first in the state. The pharmacy college secured ninth position nationally and first in the state.PBDSUHS vice-chancellor Dr H K Aggarwal attributed the ranking to the collective efforts of the university’s faculty, doctors, nursing staff and employees. He added that the university’s long-term objective is to bring PGIMS among the top three medical institutions in the country, with greater focus on international collaborations and advanced research.PGIMS registrar Dr Roop Singh said transparent administration, timely student welfare measures and improvements in academic systems had strengthened the confidence of students and parents.PGIMS executive director and dean Dr Ashok Chauhan said the hospital’s advanced medical equipment, trauma centre and round-the-clock emergency services have attracted patients from Haryana as well as Rajasthan, Punjab and Delhi-NCR.
