AYODHYA: Former BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on Thursday described his relationship with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav as personal and ruled out contesting the upcoming elections, amid questions over whether he could join hands with the SP leader.“I have a personal relationship with him. I do not speak against him, and he does not speak against me. I am in the BJP, and he is an SP leader,” Brij Bhushan said.Asked whether he would go to Akhilesh and form an alliance, Brij Bhushan said the two were related and that he had also been an MP from Akhilesh’s party. He said his praise for Akhilesh was not political.“We are related. I have been an MP from his party. He is a good person. I also praise him, but it’s not political. Do not connect the two,” he said.Brij Bhushan also ruled out contesting the upcoming elections.His remarks came a day after Akhilesh, while speaking about reports of BJP MLAs being in touch with the SP, said several people were in contact with his party but there was a question of how they could be accommodated.Akhilesh said the SP did not want to make promises it could not fulfil.On Wednesday, Akhilesh had also said his relations with Brij Bhushan were “very good” and left it to the former BJP MP to decide whether he wanted to wear a green or saffron scarf.(With agency inputs)
